Galankin Island Repeater Project
Sitka Ham Amateur Radio Klub [SHARK] 7-19-2018

Scope:
Relocation of 2 existing SHARK repeaters to Galankin Island. Approximate
Lat Lon 57.0325, -135.3293 at an estimated altitude of 50 to 70 feet, with a 40 foot tower.
The project is expected to extend the range of Amateur Radio Emergency Services [ARES] coverage
to the end of Halibut Point Road, surrounding water access routes, and inhabited islands to the North
of Sitka.

Preliminary Field Testing
Simplex tests were done from Vern Culp's roof on Galankin
Island with a 5 watt Baofeng hand held to Todd Dokey with a 50 watt
radio in his car.
